Default 4.6L 11th Gen vs 12th Gen towing capacity

When looking at the towing capacities for the 4.6L 2v F150's, I noticed that the pre 2009 models could tow 1000 lbs more than the 09 and 10 model years. I'm just wondering, why is it that the newer trucks couldn't tow as much as the previous gen F150's could? Is it weight? Did Ford reduce the weight of the 12th gen F150's so much that they couldn't safely tow as much?

Also, if you had to choose between a 4.6L with the 2v head, would you pick the 11th or 12 gen?

If you want to tow don't use the 4.6, it runs forever but not for towing. I sold my 05' 4.6 because is it not a towing motor,

All I'm looking to tow is a Uhaul trailer with my belongings when I move. Trailer and cargo won't exceed 4000 lbs and I drive 55 when towing.
