I have an '06 with the towing package. Since it was new, on tight corners I hear a noise on thigh corners. Could this be the limited slip just working like normal. I have changed the diff fluid several times over the years and I have never seen any excess metal come out.

I am going to say add another bottle of friction modifier

 

after ~18 years of use without issue I would hazard to say you are correct.
