I installed the Square S radio in my 2004 F150 yesterday. I had the Factory installed Double Din Kenwood with the 6 cd changer. This radio sounds every bit as good maybe better then the one we removed. I am not a stereo snob so I can’t sit there and tell you how the high low or mid-range sounds but it does sound good to me even at high volumes which I don’t normally use.

There is a couple of things I do want to mention. First off, I know that there is a lot of people that are pretty tech savvy and don’t need owner manuals but I am 62 and I wouldn’t have minded having one that was better then the one provided. It tells you everything you could have probably figured out on you own but doesn’t have any extensive information where you might need it. Perfect example, this is how you adjust the brightness of the screen - you press and hold the menu button until the brightness level shows up at the bottom of he screen and then you use the volume nob to adjust the brightness up or down. This isn’t even in the manual... anywhere. Then if you hold down the menu button longer then it takes to bring up the brightness you get another setting called Duel Zone and I still haven’t figured out what it is or how to adjust it.

The other thing that came up was there weren’t any brackets to mount the radio so we took the brackets that were on the old radio and used them, they were riveted on so we just drilled through the rivets to remove them and then we had to drill new mounting holes because the brackets need to be flat against the back side of the radio face so that when mounted it sets back far enough to be able to get the dashboard piece back on. You can also find enough torx head screws on the old radio to fasten the brackets to the new radio. I think looking back it probably would have been just as easy to run to the hardware store and get some angle stock and make new brackets. But when all was said and done the radio looks factory installed “no faceplate kit needed” and sounds great.

Anyone else get this brand installed? Looking for a video of operation. Help please?

ckreidler,

Any update on how this radio is holding up?? Am considering purchasing one but reviews are few and far between.

I have been really happy with this radio but three minor things. One- the manual stinks, useless... it tells you the obvious but gives you no details about the features. the person who wrote the manual had to been dumber then a bowl of soup! You just have to go out and play with the thing to figure it out, not to big of a deal really. Two- at certain times of the day it can be a little hard to see the screen when in reverse and backing up (if you install the back-up camera) but I have found that about all you have to do is lean over to the center a little and it makes it easier to see. The posture you would have if you were resting your elbow on the center console is about all to takes. The third thing and I have been in contact with them about this, in the area where I live the RDS feature doesn't work, they are supposed to be working on a firmware update that will address this.

Yes that is the one. did you read my post a few months back, in particular the last paragraph about the brackets? If not check it out.

Thanks for the feedback.
I would like to buy one but the price is still up there.

That's my issue too. I love the features but scared about the price. I have an Eonon in my truck now and what a hunk-O-junk it has been. How is the sound through the Bluetooth? I notice this one has an external mic.

Yea, it was a bit pricey but it looks so much nicer then most after market units that you have to use a kit to make it fit in your truck. The sound quality is better then my original ( in my opinion) plus you have more adjustments - Besides treble and bass there is a mid range adjustment. The navigation works well and in 2004 I don't think there was even an option to get that. I like the back up camera, real nice feature when I am hooking up my trailer, I get lined up with the hitch on the first try almost every time.

I am looking at this unit for my 2011 F150 what backup camera did you go with?

Was installation pretty straight forward?
