Speedo gets stuck...possibly caused by bumps in the road?
This is really weird. I have owned my 2005 F150 4.6l XLT Screw for about 2 months now and have had no problems. I picked up an Edge 85250 programmer and ran the tow program on it. Seemed to work fine but then yesterday I noticed that my speedo was acting like 40mph was 0mph, so 40mph was the base and then it added mph based on speed. I returned the vehicle to stock but that didn't resolve the issue. I then did the battery unplug/relearn procedure to reset the computer and it reset the speedo back to 0 and the truck has been running great ever since. However today on the way home from lunch the speedo got stuck at 30mph. The only thing in common with the trips that caused the speedo to get stuck are that I hit bumps on railroad tracks kinda fast (didn't notice them coming up). Would a big bump cause a speedo to malfunction like this? Am I just needing a new speedo?

I've been looking for an excuse to throw an FX4 cluster in anyway so I'm good with that lol. I was just hoping it wasn't related to the edge programmer.

Maybe it's trying to compensate for how fast the F150 is, or it's a short like Tech said.

Could also try taking it out and cleaning it.
Sorry, not sure on the plastic backing

Update for anyone that might search and find this thread. Cleaning didn't help for me. I replaced with an FX4 gauge and works perfectly now so cluster must have gone bad. Thanks for everyone's help.
