I'm just going to keep the stock head unit and put in new speakers nothing special thanks for all your help

Look for 6x8s with the highest sensitivity you can find (90dBs at the bare minimum).

I have been looking to do this. Do you think that there will be much of a difference over stock. I would also plan to keep the stock head unit.

Well I have the stock head unit and then put in better speakers and they did make a big difference, but there still was not enough volume for me so I now have an amp and sub. but still the stock head unit.

yes, I have 5x7... but they do bolt into the 6x8 holes.

I have 'outgrown' the need for loud/good stereo stuff, but back in the day every time I would just keep the stock unit and replace the speakers I was always disappointed... From Rangers to F250s, every factory Ford stereo I have owned has never been great, the head units just have no power... Get a decent head unit or a decent 4 channel amp if you want decent sound at higher volume...

5x7/6x8 is what you are looking for...
