Window Tint

Window Tint
Hey guys. I have an 07 screw, and the back window and backseat 2 windows are tinted real dark, and the front ones are tinted a little. Anyways, I have two questions:
1. How do I know if that is factory tint...or like smoked glass?
2. I want to tint my front windows pretty dark, any downfalls to this? Is the tint something that goes bad or scratches easy? Cost? Time to Install(aprox)?
Any other advice is appreciated!
I know certain states have rules about tinting, but not worried about it.
Thanks,
Brad

You can tell by looking at the letters stamped on most glass. Look for some black words on the inside of the rear glass and if it looks like a film is over it then it's film tint, not factory. You should be able to tell by the top of the window as well. Roll down back glass abd see if you see a film at the top. More then likely it's factory tint, in which case it's 20%.
If you want them to match the back do 20% and you'll be fine. You can go darker, the only thing is you'll be able to see the darker tint on the front windows compared to the factory tint. I've tinted several trucks with 20% to match the factory tint in the rear. Only drawbacks are it can be scratch and it can get you a ticket. 20% is illegal in most states on the front windows, but it's not so dark to draw attention from John Law.

Ok I'll take a look at that tonight! Thank you! I want it to match(and yes will be illegal), but don't want them any darker than the backs already are! My back window at night is so dark I can't use it to back up with have to use mirrors.

Running Them Down
Most of the F-150's have the privacy glass which is the rear windows and the back glass but never the front windows are tinted. But like the other user said look at the words on the glass to see if there a lil bubbled. But mostly its 35% in MD for tint but different all over in the US. But most people just get the tint to match with the privacy glass which i did and thats like 15%.

i have an 06 super cab with 5 % on the 2 front 2 back and rear with a 5 % strip on the windshield. the only problems i run into are out in the woods and sometimes seeing my mirrors at night but if u just roll the front 2 down ur good to go. It makes ur truck look alot better in my opinion. i payed 100 for it all with no problems

I thought I heard 20% was factory. I know factory is a little different than aftermarket. NTM, you front two already have somewhat of a tint to them, so putting 20%, will actually probably be closer to 15%.
On my 99 f150 I had 35% on the front two, and 5% over the factory in the back. It was nice on sunny days, and at night with cars behind me, but it was PITA backing into my garage with no visibility through my rear window at night.
35% was plenty dark enough for me, and the cops left me alone.
