Default Locker search and install

Hey guys. Im going to ask for a rear locker for christmas and need some help choosing one. Not just what brand but also the exact part i need. (2006 scab Lariat, 5.4L 3.73 LS) my LS is gone! I dont need top of the line. And i plan to install it myself. Thanks in advance.

Go with the ARB if you want an open diff when its unlocked. This will be better on snowy streets with less dancing.

If you drive a lot in the snow I would get an ARB so you can switch it to open on icy roads, but if not definitely detroit locker. I would say an ox cable locker but I'm pretty sure they don't make them for your rear end

I just want something that will work like my limited slip. But actually engage when i slip. Also be unlocked in messing weather and lock for off roading. Or is that just a dream. Bc the arb is a bit out of my price range.

As long as you don't gas it through corners, the Detroit locker won't kick you out sideways.. It will work great in the snow, but you will want to learn how to drift your truck. The next rainy or snowy day, practice doing some donuts and hard turns. If you feel comfortable or have the ability to control how much you slide out, then you will be able to handle a locker. They are not for everybody IMHO.
I'd say get the ARB for a street queen.. If you have anybody who drives your truck besides you, then you will have to warn them about the Detroit locker when gassing hard through corners (on ramps, off ramps, turning through intersections)... The same applies for an ARB, warn them. But you can always tell them not to mess with it. I wouldn't get a Detroit locker for my daily driver because my girlfriend will likely crash my truck if she ever uses it in the rain or snow... I'd personally get an ARB... If my truck was a weekends only toy, or never driven by my girlfriend, I'd get a Detroit locker...

Detroit tru-trac would work pretty well for that, It's a limited slip but uses gears instead of clutches so they last forever

Sorry for my ignorance. But explain to me what would happen and why. I understand it all but i like to be clear on everything.

Just to ADD some .. Its just funny .I know a lot of people talk about lockers . but most of them don;t even know what they are talking about . if your not gonna drive your truck on the Street go ahead . you can put any lockers you wanted/ BUt if you wil drive it on street ARB air lockers so you can open it any time for Street use. or stay with LS

I have an '06 screw 2WD with a Detroit locker+ 3.73 gears ...my friends dad owned the truck before me and installed it to tow a camper and boat.
