Today my friend and I started our spark plug change for my 06 f150 fx4 3v with 64k miles on it. We didn't use the impact gun method only WD-40 and a lot of patience my truck wasn't misfiring but it was wasting a lot of gas.

Ive done eveyr which way on these plugs and there is no "trick" way to get them out. If they are going to break, they are going to break, period. Only breaking three, you did well.


I've gotten them down to 15 minutes per broken plug. The last truck I did had 140k, and I broke all 8 and it took me 2.5 hours from start to finish. But like I said I've done dozens of them.

Congratulations on getting this handled. I don't think I have the skills to do this job myself, but the shops are quoting in the $400-500 range and that's if none of them break. I'll be adding another $80 or so per broken plug.

It took us like 5 hrs to do all including the broken ones but we took a lot of breaks in between

My friend charged me 200 but I did most of the work he only took out the ones that broke off

If there's a Ford dealer near you go to them they charge 250 if none of them break and if 4 or more break they charge you 400 bucks I got a quote from them last week.

I didn't even think to check dealerships since they're almost always much more expensive, but at this point I'm willings to call anywhere. Im at about 78k and shes starting to talk back to me so I need to get it done soon.

I wish I had friends that had any kind of mechanical skills. How has Ford not offered to fix this at no cost or at least at some kind of discount?

Just got mine replaced a couple weeks ago and carried it to a local ford dealer. They broke 2 and it cost me $890.

That's what I'm afraid of. Looks like that AR is going to have to wait a while.
