If you plan on not replacing the spare in the same spot, you can lay underneath it and use a grinder to cut the wire that holds it up.

Good point. The bars, lug wrench, and jack. They come up for sale all the time on Ebay. More than likely, the original poster's is up for sale from it's previous owner....

If you do remove the spare permanently you will expose the Fuel Module so you may want to do something to protect it from the elements.

Obvious question (but sometimes I forget to turn the gas on with my tractor): Did you check under the back seat for the jack and rods? Did you check back with the seller? I bought a used F250 and the seller swore that the factory trailer wiring harness was not on it ( I could see where it had been unplugged recently, plug was clean), luckily they were a Chevy dealer so had no use for it and when I vigorously questioned it they miraculously found it in the service department.

Yeah I bet it is, he claims it was gone when he got the truck.

I like it under the bed because it's out of the way, but I still want to be able to get to it. I just can't bring myself to pay $60-80 for a jack and tools.

I have a high lift from my last vehicle but it does me no good if I can't get to the spare
