Default Space between ball joint and wheel hub

I just changed out upper control arms, struts, shocks, and lower ball joints. Torqued everything to spec but there's a space between lower ball joint and the wheel assembly. I've attached a pic. I drive around and doesn't feel bad do just wondering if it just needs time for everything to loosen up and wear in.

Can you zoom out slightly? What brand? I did not notice any space on mine when I replaced them.

Think i just realized what happened. The bottom rubber part of ball joint must have squished up when pressed into lower control arm.
Here pic of original part before being pressed into ca.

If the boot is damaged you're goign to wind up replacing it again.

Ok I'm confused now. This one is from the site i ordered from. There is no long dust boot.

still looks really odd with that open space.

What kinda sh** is that?! They’re not going to convince me that's a good thing. I’d agree the OP will probably be replacing these sooner than later.

Yes MOOG has confirmed this is the new updated ball joint design.

No bueno, leaves too much space for crap to get pinched into the gap where the full boot would deflect it.

Beancounters should be kept the hell away from parts design, the minimal boot is probably saving them a few tenths of a penny per piece.
