Sorry another 4x4 grinding tried search
Ok want to say I tried the search but still confused here is what I have tried and know.
1.) Not a soleniod problem have the 2008 f150 with new solenoid they added cover to.
2.) I have jacked front end up with key on i hear 4x4 engage when selected spin wheels turn opposite directions and cant spin front drive shaft by hand.
3.) 4x4 low works fine in 4x4 hi loud grinding so I am afraid to do this untill I think problem solved.
4.) took off vaccum at solenoid behind battery can blow through it just fine so i believe no obstruction and its hard to suck on lol.
5.) this all started with a poping sound coming from front end I should add about a few months ago when in 4x4 hi
I hope someone can point me in the right direction here. AT this point about to go pay the dang dealer for a truck just out of warranty

If the IWE[s] are bad, they are on the inner side of the wheel hubs. They aren't too hard to replace. This thread has pictures...
