So, I did the Cig plug to USB charger.
I figured, why not? I removed the Cigarette lighter from under the radio, and replaced it with a dual usb/ volt meter charger. I kept the factory harness intact so that it is totally reversible. It's getting 12.8v with the ignition off and 14.3v running. Each port is 5v and 2.1 amp
I also added a USB port for the radio seen in the center. I did have to drill a 1-1/8" hole for this, but overall I think it turned out a real clean install, no glue, bondo, or JB Weld. Everything snaps back together like factory.
And, on to the rear seat with another dual usb backlit charger. This one is 5v with 1 1amp port and 1 2.1amp port, not sure why they are different like that. But ended up another clean install keeping the factory harness intact.
I did leave the factory 12v accessory plug next to the radio alone as I do have a GPS/Dashcam that I use on trips, and is will need that plug.
OK Naysayers! What did I do wrong? And, why will my truck burn to the ground?
