small amount of oil in throttle body and intake manifold
When I cleaned my throttle body a few weeks ago I noticed a trace of oil in there and behind it in the intake. My trucks idle is kind of rough and it does consume a little bit of oil between changes. Can this be a bad PCV valve? I have the 4.6 with 58k on it.

This is due to the operation of the crankcase ventilation system.
Air is drawn into the crankcase on the drivers side, via the PCV valve which usually connects via a tube to the air filter box. This "air" is then pulled through the crankcase out, along with the crankcase fumes which will contain oil mist (gets more and more as an engine wears), and is routed to the intake tube that connects to the throttle body, and is burned off. 58K is low mileage for having any excessive crankcase blowby, so yes, I'd check the PCV. Make sure it rattles easy when you shake it, indicating that its not sticking. If in doubt, replace it.
Many folks install a catch can on the passenger side tube that routes from the passenger side valve cover to air intake tube to capture a large majority of the oil mist from the crankcase fumes. The drivers side does not require a catch can, as this in the crankcase "intake" side.
This is why folks also clean the throttle plate of the throttle body when their idle gets rough; it gets carboned/oiled up by this crankcase blowby.

The pcv for the 5.4l is not serviceable. It's built into the valve cover, and isn't supposed to need replacing. I believe the 4.6l still has a traditional pcv.

I pulled the hose off the PCV valve today and there is quite a bit of oil in there. Looks like I will be getting a PCV valve from rock auto
