Default Sleeper Cab: Anyone Make Theirs Into?

I have an '04 SCREW and use it extensively as an over the road communications contractor. Since I have the 5.6' bed, I have that loaded up with all my tools and supplies. I am frequently out on remote jobs for days at a time, and am not always near hotels by the end of my day/night. The roads I travel are rough, and it's not always convenient to tow a camper, not even a little one. <br>
I am curious if anyone has converted their rear seating area into a sleeper cab? Even a temporary one. I'm sure it's something that can be done with removing the rear seat, and adding plywood, and a sleep cushion; but would love to see pictures of others that might have already done this so I may get some great ideas. I appreciate your time!

I wouldn't want to sleep back there for any amount of time. It's barely 5' wide between the rear armrests.

Install a shell on the bed, and buy an inflatable air mattress that fits between the wheel wells (they are available(. This is going to be much more comfortable then the rear seat.

Or as Summers leads to, buy a tent that installs in the truck bed if a shell is out of the question.

There was a thread a while ago where somebody used plywood and some 2x4's for a top essentially. They had a dog and stored tools underneath it. I think some 3/4 plywood and felt cloth would keep it from tearing up the seat. When not being used it could go in the bed.

That's interesting. I can't imagine it being a lot of fun to get in/out of that.

Well... perhaps not, but when you work out in the mountains or desert for an extended period of time--where it's not feasible to stop, pack up, and drive 100 miles to a hotel, or towing in a camp trailer isn't an option, alternative means are needed. Likely not super comfortable for an extended outing, but it will do for a night or two in the field.

Pop-up campers seem to be light and easily towed.
