Deer tainted my mirror
Hello all,
I was driving home last night at a high rate of speed when a deer decided it would be cool to run into my truck. All he did was poke an Antler thru my passenger side mirror and managed to pop the glass out and shater it... luckily thats all that happened.
Now my question is can I get online and buy a manual mirror (mine were electric), and take the motors and stuff out of my existing mirror and put them in the new manual one and make it electric? All of the guts inside my mirror survived all it really did was poked a hole in the front plastic of the mirror and busted the glass part out.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Trey

Welcome to the site. Has a similar experience this week, grounds men were playing soccer and bam passenger mirror shattered. This mirror was the telescopic manual type, glass was not replaceable by it self. Had to buy the whole thing. $322.11. You didn't mention what truck and style mirrors you have, sure hope it wasn't the telescopic type. Good luck.

i don't know about the manual to electric swap but i replaced to glass an mine not long ago i think i payed 20 or 26 for the glass and it swapped real easy for me. the thing about the manuals is that the have a different fold set up don't they? where they bend at an adjustment point only (like the old school real mirrors) instead of a unit fold point(where the mirror adjusts beyond the fold point and the unit snaps back into a neutral position).
good luck on however it works
