Default Side steps or no side steps

I'm debating removing my black side steps on my 2005 STX standard. In looking at one of the threads started awhile ago (2004 to 2008 trucks post), I see that the majority of the trucks leave them on.

Seems the pro's for me are that they allow my wife to easily get in and out of the truck, and they act as a "door ding preventer" when the truck is parked.

Then again, the truck looks cleaner without them.

Thoughts?

I agree, the truck looks cleaner w/OUT the steps, but, the gf said we can't take the truck anywhere if she has to climb into the truck w/ a kid in the arm and NO step to use... so I've kept mine on.

I agree, the truck will look cleaner and will appear to have more ground clearence. You could put a side step for your wife as an alternative if she needs it.

While I appreciate the clean looks of a truck with out them, there is also a nice look (depending on what style you get) with them on. I LOVE the looks of the Harley Davidson version, but I hear that they arent that functional.

I know that they are expensive, but you can have the best of both worlds with those hide-away steps that deploy when you open the door.

I cant justify spending $1300 bucks on just power steps... Hell, I can barely talk myself into spending $1500 for a 6" lift kit. But those Bestop Steps are sexy as hell!

I always rub the back of my leg on them and get my pants muddy, I vote take them off.

And it looks about 3" higher

If this is a truck you plan on keeping for a very long time and depending how your body ages.If you have body aches now and if the steps help with the aches.Keep them.If the girlfriend has a hard time getting in and out, keep them. However it would look cleaner i think without them.

My girlfriend get me a set about 7 months ago cause she overheard me say"Damm i need these steps, getting in and out is killing my back" Ya i just said it,didn't mean it.So there sitting in my garage, lol. My girlfriend likes jumping into the truck, lol.

VanoFord.Oh you can talk yourself into a 6 inch lift.If not,i'm sure the whole forum could help talk ya into it,lol

Keep them. They make life easier for my wife and kids to get in/out of the truck. Also, I've seen many 04-08 F150s w/o the steps and the door side bolster of each seat is worn much worse from people sliding in/out.
