shuddering only in reverse and only when tranny hot...
OK, I have an issue...I did a search, but I don't have a ls, brake rotors are fine, so what am I missing here....
When the truck is hot from driving or hasn't had time to cool down, even if its been sitting a while, when I shift it into reverse and turn the wheels while giving it gas, I get a violent shuddering...I only get under those circumstances, usually pulling out of a parking space...no shuddering any other times...sometimes it is accompanied by a loud whining noise, or maybe low pitched screech, but very low pitched...anyway, is this indicative of the tranny going out...what am I missing? Again, I did a search but I didn't see a match that seemed to match exactly what was happening to me....
Any advice or pointing to threads I missed but well appreciated

I have also checked tranny fluid and it appears to be fine and was flushed and changed as part of the certified used process, or at least I was told it was...
I think it's coming from the front, my wife thinks the rear? Would changing the gear oil in the rear be helpful? I am at a loss and could use some help guys...

weird that it only does it in reverse. does it feel like the tranny or the rear end? if it feels like the rearend i would put a bottle of friction modifier in and see if that helps. always best to start cheap fixes first.

Start really cheap. Have your wife stand next to the truck (or you do it) and the other person drive in reverse and try to duplicate the sound since you guys can't determine where the sound is coming from. Does it make the sound anytime you go into reverse our only when the wheels are at full lock?

i had the same problem when making slow turns. i fixed the problem by changing rear end gear oil. 2 bottles of royal purple limited slip gear oil PLUS friction modifier. about a week later no more shudder. cost 54 bucks for everything: royla purple gear oil, friction modifier, and sealant when replacing the diff cover.

Unfortunately, it is a 2wd...that is why it is so perplexing to me...I was not able to recreate the groan/whine, but I did get the shudder to recreate...still not sure where it is coming from, but the wheels have to be turned almost to lock...and in reverse...and the vehicle has to be warm from driving...
I think I am going to change the rear gear oil, as that is not going to hurt anything regardless, but if anyone else has some more suggestions, I am open to any that anyone has...
Thanks for the help so far...
