Default Should I buy HID bulbs, or an entire assembly?

What's up y'all

I'm seriously considering buying some HIDs for my truck but I don't know if it's a better idea to buy an assembly like this:
Amazon Amazon

Or should I just buy the bulbs and ballasts and put them in my current OEM housing? Are there any reasons to do it either way? What's the best way to go about this?

These are the headlights I'm looking at:

At one point I had one of the HID conversion kit in my truck and I went back to halogen. Don't waste your money unless you install a costly retrofitted HID assembly. Your headlight projection will be scattered and it's actually slightly harder to see with the cheapo conversion kit, do yourself a favor and don't make the mistake I did, go all in with the retrofit or don't at all.

You're saying I should get them retrofitted or just not bother with them, but what about if I bought an entire replacement non-oem assembly like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2008-Ford-F150-Smoked-Dual-Halo-LED-Projector-Headlights-Lamps-Pair-Set-/111386247485?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2004%7CMake%3AFord%7CModel%3AF-150&hash=item19ef23413d&vxp=mtr or is there a better way to go about it?

Is this to say that the reasoning behind buying projectors is so as not to blind the other drivers? What is the reasoning behind spending hundres of dollars to buy projectors if this isn't the case?

those china made ''projectors'' have terrible beam patterns...youre better off buying a kit from theretrofitsource.com

yes..if you look at the ''cutoff'' line on my truck you will notice that above the headlight there is no light whatsoever...a halogen reflector housing is completely different
