"Slight" thread resurrection here. But it started getting where the transmission was shifting poorly in drive along with not going into reverse well. Took it to the transmission shop again thinking the transmission was going out again, they looked it over and said everything was tight but to check the position sensor. I found one for around $20 so I figured it couldn't hurt to replace it. Fixed all of my transmission issues.

^ good job. My shift cable grommet popped loose a few months ago, went to autozone and bought the package of assorted clips and one fit, took 10 minutes to change and no issues since. Gotta love when you get out of buying a $100 part by just doing a repair yourself.

my 2004 F150 is having the same issues. I was wondering where you found the transmission position sensor? And how difficult was the repair? Everything I’ve found online suggests the repair can be tricky and shouldn’t be tried by the owner even if mechanically inclined.

RockAuto carries this part $25 to $60
FORD > 2004 > F-150 > 5.4L V8 > Electrical-Switch & Relay > Neutral Safety Switch / Range Sensor

You need to enter your vehicle specifics for your search

Buckbbq1It’s been a couple of weeks since you last posted. Have you resolved this issue and if so, please post the solution? Feedback is important so that we all learn solution paths to these issues.

Thanks in advance
