Yeah. What I really want is a Super Snake hood. But $1300 plus paint is not going to happen. I'd rather have more power.

This.

Is this opening exposed, for example, if I park outside and it rains or snows...?

The forward half of the vent is yes. i have it positioned so that any water will simply drip on the fan shroud and run down. The way the vent is designed and it's position this far forward will prevent any water from getting on the motor.

For what it's worth to those concerned...this is a Ford factory part used on the 2014 Shelby GT500. It's not going to cause problems. Now if you positioned it further back which would look bad, say another 12-18" back it would be over the alternator and engine which could eventually cause some issues.

Doesn't it have drip rails in the side to channel waterforward away from the engine.

I don't like the idea of water under the hood at all

Had a request for a close up picture to show how much the vent sticks up.

Also I'll post up a pic tomorrow of an under hood view.

Just did this install after having the vent for more then 1 year.

Pretty straight forward after reading the step you used!

I would suggest: 12" behind the grill (or 10,5 at minimum) unless you are cuttin into the hood front reinforcement.
Mine came with double sided tape, so no silicone needed.
Here's the picture:

Hood reinforcement I was talking about:

So uh, I know it's a necro. But... how has this been over several years of exposure and rain?
