Default Serviced transmision for second time at 165k

Have 2005 f150 lariat 5.4l 75e transmission . Got a new pan from amazon with plug in it for draining . Will change it 3-4 more times over the next few weeks , 5 quarts at a time . Gasket is reusable .
Used mercon V motorcraft from amazon around $6 a quart , I got 17 quarts . New filter from dealer ft105 $ 30 . They have mercon V MC for $27 for 5 quart bottle . That's reasonable . Not going to use the stuff at big box stores .
Rockauto has mc ft -105 for $18 plus shipping . Good price .
Found lots of gunk on internal pan magnet as well as some collected on bottom of transmission cleaned it all off with paper towels , moved magnet to new pan . Fluid still reddish but a little brown to it .
New pan not as thick as original but It seems fine . 10 millimeter bolts in pan ,torque to 10 foot pounds . Engine redone by me so hope this makes tranny go the distance .

Mine just hit 100k and I did the same thing as you. I'm going to drain and refill every other oil change as I tow often. Hope mine makes it to 165k.

I just bought my 2006 lariat 5.4 4r75w with 163,000. I dropped the pan, changed the filter, filled with clean fluid. The knockout plug was still in the pan from the factory!
