Sand bags for wieght ?
#11
I've always added weight to my Crown Vic when they were calling for snow. Four bags of seventy-pound tube sand. I took them out when the roads were clear. The weight plus the addition of a Trac-Loc and four good snow tires made that car great in the snow.
I put five bags in the truck now just because I have them sitting around. I leave them in the bed all winter since the truck's payload is way more than the Vic's (obviously). Last winter I still had to use 4x4 going up my street. I blame the crappy stock Wrangler SR-A tires for that since I would go up the street fine with the Vic without the weight in the same conditions. Now I have Wrangler AT/S tires but I still have the sand bags in the back just because I have them.

My 05 SCrew 5.4 does great in the snow, even with the open rear diff. It's a pretty heavy truck, though. Haven't had a need for the 4WD yet but hope to test it this winter. I'll likely install a TrueTrac in the rear eventually.
