Royal Purple after 100k?
So, i've been watching all these "high mileage oil commercials" and it got me thinking: Should I continue to run RP after my 100k mark, or should I go to a full syn that is designed for higher mileage vehicles? Just want to see what your guys' thoughts were. Thanks!

Countinue with what you have been using which is hopefully Mobil 1 fully syn 5w20 or at least another name brand like it. Forget the RP and the high mileage bs from the oil companies cause thats just what it is. Todays engines are built to the best and tightest tolerances. Manufactors have had to do this to make them as effiecent as possible and meet emisions standards. This has resulted in engines that last much longer and without the ring and bearing wear (when the proper weight and grade oil is used) that we used to see at 150,000 miles and up.

I've been using RP for about 6 years or so after 60k miles truck still runs fine. I have also been hearing stories about RP but you can't believe everything you hear.

Same here... I've had RP in for 90k or so (replaced Factory oil w/ RP on 1st change; same ever since).

I jumped on the RP band wagon in 98 and haven't looked back since. My beuudy used it in his Integra that had 170K on the clock and had good results. I decided to put it in my 96 Mustang GT that had 45K on it at the time. Drove the Stang to 125K with 8 runs down the track (on nitrous) every week. Never had an issue on my highly modded engine.
Decided at that time I would use it in every vehice. Never had any issues in these:
00 Mazda Millenia (99k)
03 Impala (76k)
99 Volvo C70 ( 115K)
03 323i (112K)
03 Mitsu EVO (72K)
07 Magnum RT (60K)
06 F150 Screw Lariat (80K)
And I use it in all of my motorcycles that run wet clutches (MC Blend).

RP reminds me a lot of Apple. They have both been extremely successful in brainwashing to public to think their products are needed or better. In reality, your getting oil and a computer, nothing more.
Iv used nothing but motorcrafts oil in all my vehicles and none had any issues with the motor what so ever. My 96 F150 ran like a champ at almost 200k on the clock.
I used to work at a research facility in the chemical engineering dept, specifically fuels and lubricants. We used to test lubricity and longevity of oils and the deposits they leave behind. No synthetic oil did really any better than any other in any of the tests. They all created the same wear over the test time, left the same amount of deposits etc.
We didnt test any specialty oils, just off the shelf oils like mobil 1, RP, Castrol and so on. So hopefully some of you can see how I formed my opinion.
