Ok, grabbed a startup video. Checked the entire exhaust over, just a couple small leaks aroun the passenger side cat that was replaced last year. No manifold cracks that I could see. Would that still make it sound like this??

Crap mine has been sounding like that and worse the whole time I owned it. I thought it may be the timing chain and tensioners slapping against the guides. Once it drops down in idle its perfectly fine. I guess I will be checking the manifold. That sucks because I just ordered about $1,500 dollars worth of crap and specialty tools to do the timing on it.

but it seems to only be that noisy on initial start up...would the manifold expand and quiet down that quickly?

Did you ever resolve your issue? I’m having the exact same issue with my 2008.
