That is my concern exactly. How to determine the tongue weight of the trailer and if it exceeds the limit on my hitch. Not sure if I have the WDS or not or how that works.

You don't have a WDH. It has bars / chains that shift weight to the front axle of the truck and to the trailer's axle.

They make trailer scales, or you can read how to use a bathroom scale, or you can go to a CAT scale. https://www.etrailer.com/faq-how-to-...ue-weight.aspx

Weight of car trailer should be known. Weight of car on it should be known. Add them together, then figure 15% worse case for tongue weight, but that's just a guess. Can the car go back further on the trailer?

Thanks Rick you've been super helpful. We're leaving tomorrow morning so I want to try and be squared away tonight. I'll check over everything and report back. Worst case scenario I'll go to the scale nearby and figure it out.

We made it safe and everything worked out. The truck did great and we were almost fully maxed out. I highly recommend a Bluetooth OBDII scanner for approx $20 on Amazon.com and the Torque Pro app. I was able to monitor tranny temp, coolant temp, load, gear and a lot more which was very helpful and definitely worth the money. Also, I consistently ran Chevron fuel which had a Techron in it and my engine performed much better. Chevron fuel is good stuff!

Good to hear a good trip was had. What was your max transmission temp? Interesting that you mentioned chevron gas. I've been chasing a ping like condition in certain scenarios, and recently ran a tank of chevron. I want to say it was night and day over the Costco gas I've been using. Need to run a few more tanks to be sure.

Max transmission temp was when I was going on a super steep grade - probably 6-8% or more. Was going about 35 mph. It got up to right around 200 degrees but I believe max was 196 or so - I don't think it ever broke 200. Also, I have a tranny cooler so that probably helped. Average was 165 when cruising and OAT was average 75 degrees.

But yeah I had noticeably less misfires with the Chevron fuel so I just stuck with it and for now that's all I use. Also, before the trip I did have a shutter from 1st to 2nd when accelerating from stopped [usually while turning]. It has since gone away after a few tanks of Chevron with Techron. Some member suggested it may have been dirty fuel injectors and the Techron could help clean it out.
