08 f150 stx 4wd... Can i get away with a 15(prefferred) or 16inch wheel??

No 17 is the smallest you can go because of the calipers.

That'swhat i feared... I wanted some steel wheels but i can't find any in our beloved 5x135 bolt pattern... Not to mention17's

I think you mean 6x135. The 5x135 were the earlier years before 04. Yea you won't find any rims smaller than 17s in a 6x135.
