Default Transmission survey

Well I had to bite the bullet and have my transmission rebuilt on my 05 5.4 4x4... Original Trans with close to 130,000 on the clock. It's gonna cost 1949.00 but that includes a 3 year 75,000 mile warranty. It's gonna be in the shop 5 days. How long did you guys leave it at the shop? How much did it cost ya?

Thats not a bad deal or warranty, Shop had mine for 3 days. I had to take back so they could replace the front seal again however so another day there. They said they got the seal at the local tans. supplier and had 3 of them leak so they went to Ford the second time for the seal.No leak now!

I think that's about what I payed but I only got a 1 year unlimited mile warranty. I would have preferred your warranty. If its a good place I would say the price is about right- its concurrent with the prices I found around the metro Atl. area.

Ummm I didnt. I guess I got lucky because mine has the towing package. 160k and the tranny works like new. When I got it at 125k I changed the fluid and added a qt of lucas. Dont know if it helped or not but its still going strong.

Did you ever have it flushed and changed the filter before it crapped out?

I did that to mine when I got it, just before 100k and so far so good.... (fingers crossed)

Might cost you less if you get the rebuild kit first and take it to the shop. you can usually get the kit for 1/2 of what the shops charge you. Look on rockauto.com i found a deluxe master rebuild kit for my 04 xlt 5.4l for only $102.00. Find out if they will allow you to provied the parts for the rebuild. I know alot of shops won't allow this because they make money when they do parts also.
