Best buy likes to tell you one price then when they get into it they have to add one a whole bunch of stuff. I was in the market for one and read a whole bunch of reviews most of them were bad. I went to a local shop and they only wanted 400 with a cool remote for an extra 200 I could get an app for my droid. The only down side is they want money a month to use the app.

Viper/python is a good quality line. I had the viper bi direction with 1 mile range and it was perfect. Never a glitch or failure. The range really was as they said. Can't remember the part number tho.

Would you mind going into more detail please? I haven't heard anything but good stuff. Thanks for your input! btw glad your DIY went well, I followed your thread on it when you were thinking about doing it.

OK, so I went to 2 more local install shops.
Shop A: Offers Avital 2103 for a basic remote start--everything installed is $299
Shop B: Offers Autopage C3-603 for a total of $280 installed
Both places have been in business for many years and "do this all the time" plus install radios and other auto accessories. Do either of these products sound good or something I should stay away from???

Just finished installing a Viper 5301 with PKALL. Cost was $110 (80 remote start, 30 bypass) and a few hours of my time. Need to hook up a couple more options but it starts the truck and works the locks so I'd say fully functional. Much needed since it has been hitting the 20°s in Texas at night lately
I spent the extra time to solder everything in instead of using t-taps and splice connectors which most shops are going to use to get you in and out.
