Rejuv' on a budget.
Great Americans,
I will have my truck paid off in about a month. When I get back home from deployment, I don't want to buy a whole new truck, I just want to add a few more years. I'm trying to keep my budget at $3000, but I am willing to go up to $4500. Here is some info regarding my truck and driving TTPs:
TRUCK:
- 2004 FX4, 5.4L V8
- 97,000 miles
- All-Terrain Tires
- K&N 75 series CAI
- No body/suspension lift or leveling kits
HIGHWAY/CITY:
- Typical driving environment during the work week.
- Drive the speed limit
- Lots of cruise control (70mph typical on HW)
- Pulling trailer usually two to three times per week. (max loads: normal: 3k; moving to another Post: 5k lbs)
*** Usually have to make a long road trip () at least once a month for army schools/visiting our families (MO & TX)/or moving. ***
OFF ROAD:
- Every weekend
- Getting back into favorite hunting and fishing spots
- Don't go "mudding" for mudding's sake, just trying to get to a destination
What can I, and others that this scenario applies to, do to keep their truck rolling strong for another 5 years and stay within that budget?
I apologize for the length of the post. Any and all advice/guidance is appreciated!

Get a tuner and have the spark plugs changed. Have you had the transmission and diff fluid changed? Might look into that also.
