Default Recommendation for a street tire for a 08 FX4

I bought my son's truck from him and he had Goodyear Wranglers LT275/70R18s on it. They now need replacing, but I do not want as aggressive a tire as the Wranglers. I will be on pavement 90% of the time and gravel or dirt roads occasionally during hunting seasons.

What would be some recommendations. I had Coopers on my '99 Dodge 2x4 which gave me good service, but this is the first 4x4 I have owned.

The truck is a stock 2008, no lifts, or anything like that. I am retired so cost is a definite factor. Am I correct in thinking a less aggressive tire would also help my gas mileage a little?

I surely appreciate your advice.

I'm a fan of bfg tk kos they get good traction and last a long time. great if you have 4x4 but are lookin for an all round tire and not something for hard core off-road.

He's looking for something less agressive than the wranglers that are on it now. So that alone eliminates the KO's and to be honest with you I've had 2 sets on two different vehicles and I wouldn't recommend them. They are pretty loud for an AT tire and don't do that well in heavy rain. The Hankook Dyna Pro is a great tire and the Toyo OC A/Ts I have currently are an amazing tire on and off road but they are a bit pricey. Also you might want to check out the Cooper Discoverer ATP, its very similar to the Hankook, but it is only offered at Discount Tire.

Firestone destinations are a solid buy. Well-priced, quiet, and good lifetime.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I will check them out. I just don't have any experience for 4x4's. As a I said, the truck was my son's company vehicle and I got such a great deal on it, I couldn't pass it up, when it was rotated out based on mileage (143 K). He as a 2012 model now, and he did have a leveling kit put on the front end.

When I got it last year, the first day I had this urge to go find a mud puddle. A big mud puddle, but I controlled myself. I had a problem of the water draining from the A/C into the driver's side floor area. I didn't know it until I lifted up the heavy duty fitted mats that were in the truck. Some of the work sites my son went to were pretty muddy. Anyway, the carpet was soaked, for how long I don't know. But I wet-vac'd it and took the fitted mats out. I tried to find the blankety-blank A/C drain in the firewall [Thanks F150.forum], but there is no space behind the motor. So, I have been running the A/C in the floor/panel position [suggestion] and finally got it all dry. And the other day, for the first time, I saw where condensate actually drained out of the A/C in the driveway. Maybe the drain pipe opened up. I hope so.

Longer post than I planned starting out, but I really do appreciate the helping hands. I shoot a lot and stay over on RimfireCentral a lot, and there is not a better forum if .22s are one of your hobbies.
