Recall done now cruise inop they say need new PCM $1400??
Hello,
Can anyone help me with what I should do about cruise inop? Had recall done on the airbag wiring, now cruise does not work so took it back in to the Dealership to see if they left it unplug or something? Now they are saying I need new PCM which they want $1400 for it.
My pickup is an 04 F150 FX4 SuperCrew with 240K 5.4L/Auto
Thanks for your help and suggestion in advance

I am so not surprised they are playing it off like they had nothing to do with it. I had my truck at the dealer 3 timjes and it was worse each time...and they would not pay the fees. I am still fighting with them

Then tell them that. Tell them that it worked when you brought it in, and after they did the recall work it won't. If you get a stubborn service douche just work your way up the ladder, call corporate Ford, etc...

Be polite about it as well. You have the right to request the regional managers number; call he/she and talk to them. Again, be polite but firm. The local shop is doing their job, albeit not to your satisfaction.
I have not taken my truck for this recall for the reasons I've read on this forum and others. Everything works on my truck just fine, and I recently moved away from the Ford dealer I trusted. I'm now in a new location, and have not yet set up with a dealer I know and trust. I guess what I can do is have the service manager go on a test ride with me before they do this drivers side air bag recall to prove the cruise works.
Doesn't help your situation, but I guess this can be advise for others to prevent this from happening.

im holding on the recall for the same reason.... i will wait for the one mechanic that i know in a ford dealer, that can do the job and allows me to stay with him while he does it.

I agree, my truck has gone 181,503 miles so far without an airbag "randomly" deploying without cause. I have read too many horror stories about mysterious happenings after a recall that I cant justify risk/potential reward. If this thing can go 80% of it's usable life without this recall's supposed flaw occurring, I'm fairly certain it won't happen.
Besides, if I drive somewhere for work it isn't a 3-5 mile trip. It's usually a 50-100 mile round trip and all interstate, so the cruise is a definite plus.
