Default Rear window trim

So today I closed my power slide rear window and this black felt/rubber trim piece popped off the bottom of the window track. It appeared that the rubber on it has constructed over time and it doesn't snap into the groove anymore. Will this cause water intrusion? It doesn't even look like it is long enough to reach side to side so I don't know how useful it was in the first place.

Not sure what you mean by it has "constructed" over time but,

It appears to be an inner trim piece, not the outside seal, so, unless it is there to provide tension so as to press the glass to the outer seal, I don't think you will have an issue.

Close the window, see if it still "seats" properly into the track, spray with the water hose, and see what happens.

Mine pops out from time to time depending on how often I use it and I just put it back in place. Mine is a manual window though although it shouldn't matter. I also thought it was odd that its about an inch or so too short to go the entire length. My truck lives outside and is rained on often and have yet to see any water come in from the sliding window. My guess is @Jamieat is correct and it doesn't seal anything but its to provide tension to press the glass to the outer seal.

Thanks gents! It's raining it's ***** off today so I'll see if it's wet! And by "constructed", I meant "constricted".
