Rear height difference between 2 and 4 wheel drives?
As the title states: Is there a REAR height difference between a 2WD and a 4WD? The reason I ask is that my buddy has a 08 Screw XLT 4x4 and our trucks were sitting side by side at work and his rear looked higher than mine by about 1/2"-3/4". Is this just due to the tires or is there an actual difference?

My 04 2wd measures 4" in the front and 6.5" in the back. I also park mine next to an fx4 everyday and have noticed that his sits probably 2" higher than mine, My autospring level should be here this week so i will post the new measurements when it is on. Also if someone else does not post before i do i will measure the fx4 on Monday to see the height difference.

Should be 2'' higher in the back.Im thinking of removing the riser blocks on mine so i can reach in the bed

Do the 2WD's have this riser block?? The reason for these questions is that I am debating going with just a 2.5" level or a rancho 2.5" lift as well as the 2.5" level for the front. I don't want to get this all done and then walk away with a lift that makes it just as high as a 4WD. I will go bigger if that is the case.

If you want you will need to go higher in the front and back. the fx4 sits higher in the front. my dad also has a 08 f150 but it is 2wd and there was a noticable difference between our trucks. With the leveling kit it will only allow up to 33" tires on your rig

I don't believe that to be true i am running 285/55/20 (almost 33" tire) right now with no rub at all, i have ordered the autospring 2.5 level kit which should be here next week and do believe with the level i could run 35" tires. heres a pic of my 2wd stock suspension with 285/55/20 tires |

33's are as large as I want to go. I value my 14.5mpg too much to lower it any more. I just don't want to install a level and then when sitting next to a 4x4, it still looks low. F that. |
I'm not trying to be argumentative but how is it that if I am already running a 32.7" Tire with no lift, Shouldn't it be possible to run a bigger tire with the level kit?
As a side note i have finally got my city mpg up closer to 16-16.5mpg now with k&n air filter, all synthetic fluids (tranny, engine, diff), Edge Evo 2 programmer and have seen almost 22.5 on the highway. I am still planning on redoing my exhaust for more airflow and than possibly adding electric fans to get all around decent numbers. |
Yeah, it should be 2" higher in hieght.

it may sit a little lower than the 4x4 but IMO I dont think hieght is an issue you could be sitting next to a bigger 4x4 but if your tires fill up your wheel wells I would go with your truck any day
