What's up guys, has anyone replaced theirs before? how much does it usually run? My truck just broke down on me on my way to Florida from Texas for my summer vacation this past Saturday (worst start to a vacation ever). I had to get it towed to a shop in the middle of Louisiana and got a rental. I left it at the shop over the weekend and made my way to Florida. I called the mechanic today and he had a chance to look at it and said my rear end is shot, he quoted me $2800 for the labor/replacement with a re manufactured rear end. I went ahead and did it because I really had no other choice as I was so far away from my truck and Texas. I'm just curious to see if I'm getting screwed here or is it usually that expensive. Thanks for any input you guys have.

That's not really overly bad if it's a freshly rebuilt one, all labour is in and you can't do any of it yourself. It's not cheap but it's not overly out of line for what you're going to pay. You could install a junk yard rear end yourself but who knows how much better that will be then your previous unless you tear it apart.
