This is interesting. I have about 70k on my '05 Lariat and when I took to the Ford dealership for regular mainteance I was told I needed a rear differential rebuild. I was quoted about $800. This is my first and only Ford truck and I'm at my wits end. Since I've had it have had to replace all four brakes, throttle body, driver side front window motor, now the rearend and my right turn signal just stopped working. I'd get rid of it but the value has plummeted and I'm way upside down on my loan.

I finally got the cash together to get my diff repaired. Dropped it off at the dealership this morning (I know, I know) The total hit is $1,600. $1,200 for the rear, and the rest is for repair of turn signal, new fuel filter, a battery and a scheduled oil change. I get to drop another $1,200 on Saturday for a set of tires.

Dang, if you have a driveway/garage and a few tools you could have saved a few $$ by changing the battery, turn signal, fuel filter and oil yourself . You can do all that within an hour.
