Reading Transmission Codes

When starting my truck the last couple of mornings, my message center displayed the "Transmission Malfunction" message and the O/D Off light was flashing. The warning went away after a few seconds, and the light quit blinking. I haven't noticed any change in the way the truck drives. Is there a way that I can check for any transmission codes?

I don't know if it makes any difference, but when we were in Outer Banks a couple of weeks ago there was a lot of flooding due to all the rain they had. I, of course, had to run through the flooded areas trying to splash the people riding in the bed!

Thanks!

A Bluetooth adapter and Torque Pro read mine. Sounds like you at least need a fluid change.

So I got a P1711 code - transmission fluid sensor out of range...any ideas?

P1711 FORD - Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Out of Self-Test Range
Possible causes
Faulty Transmission Fluid Temperature (TFT) Sensor
Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor harness is open or shorted
Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor circuit poor electrical connection

Can any of these be checked without dropping the transmission pan?
