Question Rattling Noise

I have a 2005 Ford F-150 FX4, and it has started making a rattling noise when started up and also when running at low RPM's, but once it gets above 1,500RPM's it stops but than starts as it drops RPM's. It sounds like metal rattling, it was throwing the camshaft sensor code P0340 and P03440 but I changed them and it isn't throwing those codes. One of my friends said it could be the Timing Chain tensioners, and if it is them how hard is it to replace them. I already have the tensioners also have the timing chain as well. Would it be better to just replace it all or just the tensioners for right now?

Well...this is quite a frequent subject on this forum. Here are some helpful links...

There is PLENTY of reading to be had on these forums. Based on what you describe, I would consider a real oil pressure reading before you make any decisions (but that is a bit of a PITA too).

I am just about to dive into a full timing-components (inc. phasers) replacement on my '05 SCrew. I will also be removing the VCT valve bodies for inspection and likely a new gasket. When I am inside the timing cover, if I find broken or extensively worn guides / tensioner-arms, I will be pulling the oil pan to inspect the screen in the oil pump pick-up. If it is clogged, I'll likely also throw a new oil pump on.

That's my can of worms.

Hey thanks for the help. Also for getting a full oil pressure, is it within the links you gave me? And if not how would I go about and get the reading?
