Here is the area where the water enters the chase... The one picture shows paper towels...

Ive had this problem since I bought my truck in 06 it used to sound like a water bottle was rolling back and forth under my passenger seat until i found the water in the sill. I have a friend who is a ford tech, so he got me a new third brake light, which is supposed to have an upgraded seal on it, but I also left the rubber plug that is in the front of the sill plate out that goes thru the bottom figuring any water that leaked in woul drain out. I probably get some water in there when I drive, but it hopefully drains out when im parked. I park my truck nose down in my driveway, and it slopes down that way. I guess the guys in that utube video were using some soapy water, and maybe a blow gun on the inside to show the leak. I will check it out tomorrow. But I would definitely use clear silicone even though its hidden under the cowl. Im just **** like that. Ive never had the winshiel changed, and it seams like I only get water on the drivers side.

Yes you will definitely have water spray in through the drain plug...

The video showed them using the vents on full blast with the doors closed windows up so its kinda pressurized in the cab. The air would leak out anywhere water would come in... The soapy water shows any air escaping... The silicone I used dries clear but comes out white... I'm the same way...

Ill be fixing all my caulking that the rain washed away from hurricane sandy this weekend. It's finally going to stop raining. The quick caulking I did helped a lot tho... My carpet is SLOWLY drying out...

Well I decided to caulk my windshield clips since its finally dry outside. I took my wiper cowls off to make it easier. Just had to disconnect the washer fluid lines., and remove the wipers. I was very generous with the silicone. It'll dry clear. I hope this is the fix-all for my leak... Here's the final clip pics...

I also zip-tied the wiper cowls together. I was tired of them separating or one side being higher than the other. I drilled a hold for the zip tie on each cowl. The holes are low on the engine side behind the long gasket that clips on the cowl. I didn't get a picture of it but I will Tmw....

Well I was installing my ford logo courtesy leds in the bottom of my door panels yesterday, so I pulled my passenger side sill plate up, and it was bone dry. Im not sure if the new third brake light with the new style gasket helped, or me leaving that rubber drain plug thats in the bottom of the sill plate out that did, but I put the drain plug back in, and Ill wait for the next rain storm and check it again, but I think there are a few places water migh come in to cause that water in the sill. I think that gray rubber on the bottom of the sill plate clips actually keeps water from coming into the sill. Im just surprised how rusty your truck is where they clip in. Mine is an 06 and doesnt show any signs of rust there. The only rust is on the clip itself like yours has. Well I hope your leak is fixed.

First take off the wipers, lift that lil lever and pull off the wiper, it's easier if you fold up the wiper off the glass.

then pull the push pins on both ends of the cowl( they go into the window clips).

Open the hood. Remove the long gasket on the cowl.

Push the cowl toward the windshield then up to release the tabs behind that gasket you removed.

Now push the cowl down where it meets the windshield because the cowl has hooks that go under the windshield. It should be loose enough now to lift up and disconnect the washer fluid lines from the squirter. Once the lines are disconnected it can be totally removed.

Hope this helps

The reason I'm sure of these clips leaking is i poured water on the clips and saw the water trickle into the wire chases while I had the sills off... As for the the rubber rectangle gaskets showing rust under them- could be all the salt my truck sees in the winter?? Hope we get it all squared away and dry!

well i just pulled mine all apart..i squirted and poured water on the clips..i didnt see anything but it must of not been enough..i also noticed the sill completly full of water again and the carpet padding and carpet soaked..i think it is comming from the kick panel inside the square rubber grommet..i pulled that off and it was all wet inside and i could see water marks that it is coming from in there...i have only had this truck about 6 or 7 weeks i am goin to call the dealer tomorow to get it in and have them fix it..i will let you know how i make out...btw how can i post a pic from my phone on here

In the mean time pull that rubber grommet in the sill out and any water that gets in there will drain out. Im in NJ and we have alot of road salt too, but glad it hasnt rusted. I think there are a few places water comes from to get in there. Yours was from the windshield, mine might have been from the third brake light. I know thats been an issue on alot of trucks.
