Default Rain leaking into wire chase under sill plate

A few things to point out, my third brake light is sealed with silicone, replaced windshield because i found it was leaking, it's not my rear window cause the water is coming in from the front. The wire chase only fills up when it rains or going through a car wash so I know it's to my ac drain. Does ANYBODY know of an area where water can leak in under the wiper cowl/firewall/fender area? It's mainly the passenger side that fills up. It fills up when parked too, and I usually park with the front end facing uphill slightly, I'm going crazy trying to trace this water problem!

Well I might have figured it out. The plastic clips that hold the windshield up get Inserted into holes. The plastic clips have a crappy little gasket around them to seal and keep out water but they dont work good obviously. These holes allow water to get into the fenders and then it runs out of the fenders under the sill plates. I tested by pouring water directly on the clip( lifted the wiper cowl to expose the clip, the push pin goes through the cowl and into the windshield clip) and then I saw the water trickling into the cab and filling up the wire chase under the sill plates. So I decided to smother the clips on both sides with silicone so no water can seep into my truck! Now if Sandy would stop dumping rain my truck and let the silicone dry I'd be in a better mood, I might need to check my silicone and see how much got washed away from all this damn rain!

Here's a picture for reference, I'm holding up the wiper cowl so u can the clip under it...
The other picture is of a new clip I bought...

Hey brother, thanks for the heads up! Can you post a larger pic of where that area is? I'd like to take mine apart when the weather gets better to take a closer look. Hopefully you didn't run into any electrical problems. My high mount brake light leaked when I bought the truck, but it had an aftermarket brake light on it that had a poor fit compared to a stock one. I sealed it with silicone as well.

Which area do you want for a bigger picture?

Oh, I see! It's basically only at the bottom corners of the windshield. Thanks brother! I'm going to go check mine!

Yea. There only two clips, one on each side... I need this rain to stop so my silicone can set up!!! The rain is washing it away from the clip so I'm still getting water under my sill plates, not as much but still some.... I also noticed while driving my tires are splashing water through these holes that the sill plate attaches to, I'm going to add some silicone on these whenever it dries out here in Pittsburgh.... Here's a pic of them... Some of the gaskets stayed on the sill plates so I plugged it with a paper towel but the paper towel gets soaked from driving, just another source for water in under the sill plates....( in the first picture you can see my gravel driveway through the hole)

I have the same problem. I've been trying to locate where the leak is for a month now. I've siliconed the edge of the floor panel and fender and still have a leak. Tomorrow I will check these clips the funny thing is I also noticed this weekend those rubber ends on the cowl are missing so that might be a clue. Thanks for this post. I hope this works for all so us!

Thanks for posting this... Last Christmas my aftermarket alarm went off for no apparent reason. I lifted the floor panel on the passenger side and the channel was full of water like you're showing. The alarm went off due to one of my diodes shorting out (Ford computer sending false door open signal back to my aftermarket alarm). For now, I've placed it at a higher location but I'm going to check more into this. It was too cold out (and is again) so I left it until later but I'd like to solve it too.

One more thing is the clips can't be removed unless the windshield is removed... The weight of the windshield on them makes it impossible to pull out. The reason i still have a leak is when i got my new windshield installed he only used one new clip, for the driver side, and reused the original on the passenger side. My driver side clip is good and dry but the passenger side clip leaks. the way to check them is by pouring water directly on them then looking for the water to trickle down into the wire chases. Look for water at the beginning of the chase under the dash a lil... Ill post a pic of this area Tmw...
