Smile Question about putting a system in 2007 F-150 Lariat edition.

I currently have a Power Acoustik 6250B that will be installed where the OEM double din 6-disc changer currently is. A custom made under the seat box for two Kicker L7 8" sub-woofers, 2 ohm. A Hifonics Brutus 1200.1d amplifier. I was told that to correctly install the amp I would have to completely take out the back seat and mount it behind it, then put it back in. I was just curious if anyone else out there had a system similar to this one and had any suggestions, such as putting the amp under one of the front seats or something, anything but behind the seat where I have to remove the back seat just to find a blown fuse or something...Thanks in advance!

Default Amp

Hey man, I have a similar situation to you. my subwoofer enclosure takes up the 60 part of my 60-40 rear seat. I keep the 40 free for my tow strap, cables and jack. Also, I didn't want to put the amp under the seat because it would be harder to wire, look sloppier, and would have more risk of getting wet. I put mine on the back wall and it works great, doesnt overheat or anything.

As far as the fuse goes, its pretty rare that you will blow a fuse, and with that in mind, It really isn't a problem. The back seat is actually pretty easy to take off after you know how to do it. I spent a lot of time trying to find the best spot, and it is definitely the back wall. It is also a lot harder to steal like this. Here is a picture:

I put mine on the little slope behind the center console , it's small sacrifice for space, but at least it won't over heat

I put mine under the drivers seat but it is lifted off the carpet some to give it breathing room. my seat is always as far back as possible (im 6'6) so i dont worry much about someone in the backseat kicking it. I would have to agree with Fiddick and say behind the seats is rough for dissipating heat...especially if you have a high output amp.

Esaloom,
You do have a pretty, nice cleaning looking setup though. That is definitely the way to go for stealthiness and security. well done.

haha. yeah i havent had any problems with anyone messing with it but the only wire that'd be a problem is the remote one. i have a kicker amp and a 12" kicker sub with a remote to control the bass mounted below my cup holder up front.

Any chance you could post a pic of your bass controller and exactly how it is mounted? I am going to have an in-line on/off switch and a bass controller switch, and I've been trying to decide where exactly I'd like to mount mine. But as fast as I know, even if it does look a little sloppier, I can hide the wires under my CatchAll back mat, most of them anyways, I just don't want to have to worry with taking the back seat out if I decide I want to re-tune my amp a little, just an inconvenience, I keep my truck locked, not worried about anyone stealing my amp. Thanks for all of the fast and helpful replies!
