Chrome Clad wheel sounds like a coke can
First of all, I'm a long time viewer of the forum and first time posting. I've always found great info on here, but haven't been able to find this one. My truck has chrome clad wheels and after a rotate and balance, the front passenger side one sounds like a coke can is stuck in it. It makes a clicking sound that resembles a coke can crumbling once per rotation. I took it back to the local tire shop to have it checked out. The manager personally checked it out and said it's definitely the wheel and nothing else (not ball joints, lug nuts, or 4wd components). He also said he was stumped on how to fix it. I've been going to this shop for years and they have always done right so I feel sure it is in fact the wheel. I'm not sure but I may have heard it before from that wheel when it was on the back, but it went away. He said to put some miles on it and bring it back if it doesn't go away and he'll try to figure something out. Neither of us can see where or why it suddenly has started sounding like this, so I figured I'd reach out to you guys for help. Also, has anyone ever pried the chrome part off, then sanded and painted? Thanks!

I took the chrome clad off my xlt rims and made them into lariat ones. Pretty time consuming though because all 4 were corroded under the chrome. Took me about 2 full days to clean and paint, but I think they look better.

Thanks beatdown. I'm short on time lately, but if I ever found myself with absolutely nothing to do for a day or so I might pry them off and paint them. I painted the stock wheels on a Ranger I used to have and it is not something I look forward to doing again. Bigdaddy I'm sure the shipping on a set of wheels be super cheap! Thanks for the replies, I'll post a solution if I ever find one.
