Purchase of a 2006 F-150 help

Today I found a 2006 Ford f-150 SuperCrew FX4 (4WD) with 130,000 miles on it and they want $14,500 for it. Normally this seems like too much money for the amount of miles on the truck  just looking for some opinions if its a good deal or not. Thank you

almost forgot

It has a triton 5.4 engine in it

It is an okay deal. It really depends on what options it has. Power seats? Leather? etc? Are they any issues with it? Have the Phasers been checked? Sparkplugs changed?

Last year I paid $18,500 for my 2004 with 79k miles. FX4 SuperCrew w/ Power seats, running boards, towing package. I should have paid about $17k. I would have liked $16,500, but for my area with how trucks were selling at the time, that wasn't going to happen. People were snapping up used trucks so the prices stayed a little higher.

Mileage is not an issue with these engines....you can expect to get well over 200,000 and more with decent maintenance done on them. However, there are some issues with the 5.4 that you may already be aware of (early 5.4's had a spark plug issue and cam phaser noise problems). If the plugs have already been replaced, then that issue is no longer a problem. Sometime in 2006 Ford addressed this plug issue.

If the rest of the truck is clean, and you can obtain previous maintenance records, then I'd say it's an average price, as these used trucks have gone up in price over the past year or so.

Otherwise, pay and have it checked out by an "un-biased" mechanic. Money well spent to set your mind at ease.

I paid $13,9 for my 4.6 but it only had 53k. I know these engines are bulletproof and all that but when I think of high mileage I think of tranny, driveline, suspension, etc. I certainly wouldn't pay over $14 for it.

I looked for 6 months before I bought mine. I ended up with an XL with ALL the same options as the XLT except power windows and locks. 5.4, 4X4, extended cab, cd player, fog lights, tow package, etc. It had 55k miles and I paid $12,000. It was a step down from what I wanted but too good of a deal to pass up.

I saw lots of FX4's and XLT's with about 80k miles for around $14,000. But when I went back to buy them they had been sold. The engines last long but if you get one with lower miles, it will last even longer. My advice is keep looking or push the selling price down.
