Default Best way to make my exhaust loud?

Ok I hope I don't sound like a complete moron here but i'm new to this stuff and don't know much about exhaust systems. I have an 06 with the 5.4. I want my exhaust loud! A couple days after I got it I cut off the muffler. Sure it was loud but it sounded like crap and of course was illegal. So a few days later I took it to my local muffler shop and they put on a glasspack with a dump. I like the sound but it's way too quiet for me. I'm trying to find out the best thing I can do for not alot of money. I mean I know I could spend $1200 and be happy but i'm hoping to keep it under $600. I went back to the muffler shop and the guy said that Fords are just quiet trucks and I won't be able to get any louder. Well clearly the guy is a complete idiot. So obviously I cant ask their opinions. I've done alot of research but still feel lost. First off I think I should go to high flow cats. Right? I've been looking at the Magnaflow universal ones. I would need 2 right? Then just have the idiots at the muffler shop weld em on? Also, what is this talk of front cats and rear cats? Isn't there just the one on each side? After that is the crossover right? Y, X, or H pipe? If i'm an idiot and am getting any of this wrong please inform me. I don't really know how the x or h pipe work. Only have an idea of the y since i've crawled under the truck and looked at the stock one. Then off to muflers and tips right? I was thinking just keep the exhaust on one side to save money and cuz I dont know what all is involved in running duals. From youtube videos i've come to the conclusion that I like the Magnapack muffler. Or maybe a Super 10. I got to thinking real hard about it today and had another idea. Couldn't I start over from the cats and replace them with high flows, then run them into a staight pipe with no crossover (isn't this called true duals?), and then into Magnapacks with dumps? Wouldn't this be quite loud and an inexpensive way to go? Would I lose any hp or torque? Any help would be much appreciated. I know i've asked alot of questions and made a very long thread and I apologize but I want to be informed Thanks!

You're on the right track. High flows to magnapacks would be pretty loud. From everything I have read you will want an x or h pipe. Seems most choose x for whatever reason. With the high flows you may throw codes. You could also run the high flows to a single exhaust using a custom y pipe to 3 inch piping. I will link mine with a single dynomax bullet with stock cats. Just bumped the piping from 2.5 to 3 inch. Video in this thread.
