Default Project 2006 FX4 Lariat For 17 Year Old Son

I purchased this truck as a father son project truck to hopefully spend some quality barn time with my son. Before some jump to the conclusion that I'm spoiling my son a little bit, well I may be but I feel he is deserving after what he has been through the last 3 months. My son was hit by a drunk driver driving the wrong direction with no head lights on a divided highway back in March killing his friend and critically injuring him and a 3rd friend.

So onto the first phase. Monday we are having a flowmaster 40 dual exhaust installed and spending our first time in the barn installing a new stereo with amp and subwoofers.

The second phase is something new to both of us and any help from the forum would be greatly appreciated. He is wanting to order wheels, tires and a lift kit. The lift will be a 6 inch BDS or Rough County. Here is our first question: Will we have problems or is it possible to run 20x12 rims wrapped with 33x12.5-20 mud tires?

Here he is with his new ride.

I'd personally stay with a 20x9 wheel and adjust the offset to what's desired

whats the most - offset you can go without major issues. I want to get a mean loking wide stance? -24? -44? or -30ish

I browsed through that stickie post and didn't see any rims 12 inches wide. Maybe I didn't read them all. Figured someone would know.

I agree but....he likes that deep dish look. Don't know if 12 inch wide rims are an option or not. I wouldn't mind making minor adjustments or trimming but don't want to chop up the front end.

Phase 1 complete. Exhaust and head unit installed. Have to finish the amp and sub tomorrow. Flowmaster 40 is perfect. Not too loud yet he is pleased. Highway speeds were quiet.
