Default Programmers

I gave a 05 5.4l 4x4 with with rancho 2.5 quick lift struts and add-a-leaf in the back on 35's and I get horrible gas mileage, obviously. I don't tow much except the boat occasionally, but I'm willing to make the investment for a programmer/tuner if it'll get me a couple more mpg. Anyone have suggestions of some, preferably someone who's had results it would be much appreciated.

It will help most with getting your speedometer and shift points corrected. I have diablosport which works great for me as it comes with cai tunes. Edge is highly regarded around here as well as gryphon, which is custom tuned edge. What mods do you have performance wise or plan on doing.

Well then a custom tuned gryphon or sct programer that accounts for the custom intake will be beneficial. Or a diablosport which is one of the only ones that comes loaded with cai tunes. You may see slight mpg increase, but I wouldn't hope for more than one or two mpg. The diablosport also had both 87 and premium octane tunes which is nice. Mine was 285 from autoanything.com. They also have a ten or fifteen percent off code for forum members, so could probably get it even cheaper.

On second thought let me double check and see if afe is one thats on the diablosport, they have four and not for sure thats one of them. I think the afe has the maf sensor real close to the intake similar to airraid. My k&n is in the tube. The relocation of the maf sensor is what causes issues. Here is the link. Looks like afe wasn't used for the specific tuning, but airraid was.

Yea i have the AFE stage II and dont have any issues with codes. Jerrybizzle is right as the MAF is real close to the stock location which is key. I also have the Edge programmer with 35's and get 16mpg on the highway doing no more than 70mph. In town its like 12-13mpg

I know this is from a couple months ago, but I ordered my Edge Evolution CS today. Are you running canned tunes or custom? Not sure which canned tune to run while I'm waiting for my custom ones...

I have the CS with a volant CAI. I run the tow tune which is the richest of the tunes that come canned.... I have 3 custom tunes ready for download, but I've had unfortunate luck with my CS as I am on the 3rd one.... The first 2 died randomly which caused me to change my serial number twice, thus delaying my custom tunes.... But the truck runs supreme with the CS tow tune and gets an average of 14.5 mpg...... If it wasn't for edges fantastic customer service, I'd be livid about my experience. To top it off I'm now scared to death to mess with the thing because I fear it may happen again... The last 2 just completely fell on there face, once after a clean return to stock and disconnect, and the other time it just died when I shut off my truck or started it, I'm still not sure...
