Default Programing a spare Key

I bought this 2007 F-150 XLT with only had one key. Reading the Manual that I downloaded, I learned that it took 2 working keys to program a spare. My Ford house wanted $80 for the key and $190 to program it. No way. A day later I was walking thru Walmart and saw that they had installed a self-serve key making machine. It was called a Minute Key. It also made chip keys. So I decided to bite the bullet. Inserted the key and it scanned the key and copied the chip programing. For $82 I got my key in the mail a week later. And it worked. Now I thought that I can program my own spare keys. Looked on Amazon and found a chip key that Amazon confirm fit said would work with my truck, and the AI Rufus also confirmed that it was for my truck. The key came in today. Printed out the instructions on how to program a key. I followed it to the letter. The key didn't work. The key was an 80 bit, backward compatible with a 40 bit. I tried to program it 3 times, still no joy. My question is, is it the key, or the programing or the instructions that is the problem. The instructions say to put in the first key, turn to position 3, Turn back, take out, and then put in the 2nd Key and do it again, and then put in the third key and do it again, and then it will be programed. Does the programing have anything to do with the UBP Buse. I have a fault code on it. It could be because I also have a fault code on the RF ABS wheel sensor. The internet says that sometimes the radio is the cause for the fault code on the UBP. This radio's displayed didn't work. I changed it out with a third-party touch screen radio. Fault still shows up. Also does anyone knows the part number of the correct key. It would be easier to know I was buying the correct chip that way.

I believe the problem is your second key is a clone of the first one. In other words the PCM can't tell the difference. You need two different serial numbers more or less to be able to self program an additional key.

If you have a elm32 OBD2 dongle you can use forscan with a trial extended liicense to add another key yourself for free.

Now that makes a lot of sense. Wonder if that is the reason that if my wife and I get into her caddy and we both have the key fob on us, it says no remote detected.
