Just try to clean it as best you can. It will eventually just wear off.

true, wonder if a cleaner or armor all would help get some of it off

What if you jut pried it off, sanded it, then maybe plastidipped it afterwards?

that's not a bad idea. would require a little more work. I haven't been able to find plasti dip yet, lowes has been sold out for a week

No I did this with my old truck it will not hurt the plastic at all. I pulled them off cleaned them with goo gone best I could get it and then follwed with soap and water. If you need to you can always get plasti dip or do what I did and spray Krylon Fusion Black Satin on them afterwards. The fusion in black satin gives a brand new factory black to them. Painters tape slides easily behind the handle to, to ensure no accidents.

If I can put goo gone directly on the black handles, thats prolly the route I will go. I know that goo gone + other plastics makes for a mess and can leave them looking really messed up.

Nope I didn't have any problem with it. The black was pretty faded before the goo gone so that's why I decided to paint them afterwards
