Problems....need some help

I was on my way home tonight and my truck started jerking and then it felt like i was in neutral, the rpms would go up but it would not accelerate. I pulled off the road and it died on me. My battery light, check engine light came on and it also said low oil pressure. I tried starting it back up a few times with no luck. She would finally turn over but only would stay running for a few moments. Anyone know what this could be? engine problem? electrical? Any help would be great.

Could be a number of things, kinda sounds like it could be an alternator/ battery issue.

Look up threads dealing with the Fuel Pump Control Modual, it is located on a cross over bar on the frame above the spare tire. The body is made of aluminum or some alloy that is suseptable to corosian and where it is located it collects dirt and salt and eventually it splits open letting moisture get to the botttom of the circuit board, shorting it out during wet weather (or during an under-body wash in the carwash that happened to me leaving me stranded!).

You can order one from Rock auto for about $62 delivered or $100 at your local auto zone if they have it in stock (mine didn't)

The new one from Rock Auto comes with rubber grommets to give it air space between the body and the truck frame to reduce the chance of corroding out the back again.

Take your spare tire down and do a visual inspection first.

Thanks for your help. I'll look into this and let you know. Is it the Fuel Pump Drive Module? $56.79 from rock auto?

Pmoon 02-09-2012 12:12 PM

Thats it, about $5 shipping.
