Pre-runner look

Pre-runner look
I was wondering if there was a way to widen my wheel base with out using spacers or buying a full long travel kit for a 4x4 because I'm looking for that pre-runner look but don't have the money to fully commit to the kit

best: wider (longer) control arms (either MT or LT) and rear diff =$
next to last: increase the wheel offset
worst: wheel spacers
The last two really aren't advised because they increase the mechanical advantage (lever action) of the rotation and weight of the wheels on the axle wear items (bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc) - a little increase in offset is probably a non issue but anything past an inch or so is asking for trouble in terms of long term wear IMO.
If you are just driving it on the street it's probably not a big deal, I wouldn't beat on it in the dirt though for reason's mentioned above.
Short answer = a little offset and fender flares
