Look at the post directly above yours. That's the rubber boot everyone is talking about.

Just fixed this on my old 2004 truck (now my granddaughters), it was the blue with black stripe wire that was broke in the boot.

None of the windows would work, no power at the switch, circuit breaker good. Pulled the wire out of the door side of the boot to get more access to the wire, crimped on a 12 gauge wire and then pulled it back through the boot and crimped it to the other end. I used heat shrink crimp connectors for a water proof connection. Rather simple fix once you find the problem.

Just yesterday I got this same issue on a 2005 King Ranch 4x4 with 56K miles. I just bought a week before. I had noticed the windows would not work when the door was open and I thought it was a strange safety issue. Sure as heck the exact same issue as described and easy fix except for the boot being in the way so I cut part of it and taped it back over. Thanks a lot, it was the first answer on the google search for the issue. must be a design defect....too short and brittle wire.

Default Same thing happened to me

A black wire came out in the door boot on the drivers side connection. I pulled back the rubber sleeve and there it was. I just pulled out the wires that were in the connection, bent the crimped part back open in the connection with some needlenose pliers, stripped the black wire back a little more inserted it in the sleeve connection and crimped it back down. Works fine now. Just be careful because there wasn’t much slack in the wire.
